the do’s and don’ts of a movie night out

19 Nov

On Friday my sister Alex and I managed to leave (all) kids behind with hero no1 N. & supporting hero no2 our dad, and go out. Our definition of a night out is going to the movies. Always have, always will be. Perfection would include burger and fries before (or after) the movie, but as we were a bit short on money and time we focused on just ‘enjoying’ the first. Our choice: JAGTEN (The Hunt)

  • If you are super happy, thrilled with your life, ecstatic about everything and everyone chose any movie you like.
  • Should you not belong in the first category and NEED a FUN night out chose your movie wisely. AVOID by all means movies which will rip out your heart, cut it up in pieces and wash it down the drain.  After all you were aiming for FUN, right?
  • Go with the burger and fries. If you are like me, go ahead and watch the movies that break your heart but do so at home. You don’t need to spend a small fortune on gas, tickets and overpriced junk food snacks when half way through the movie all you want to do is go home and hug your kids and never let them go.
  • James Bond or the Bourne Legacy would fit into the wiser choice category. A bit of action, a bit of passion and a lot of unrealistic bullshit. But let’s be frank. Who needs reality on a night out when you can get it 24/7 at home??

There’s something about the early years of motherhood that just doesn’t leave ay tolerance for fake heart break, eh? I totally relate.

Oh, no! Sorry to hear your movie night wasn’t an escape from reality. That’s why moms leave the house in the first place. To hit “pause” on the their real lives and find temporary entertainment through film. Maybe next time, opt for the burger and fries. These deep fried foods have never failed me before!

yeap, next time I will indulge in my pure junk food cravings!! thank God my sister shares theses cravings as it is double the fun if you enjoy it with someone who equally appreciates a good burger and fries!

It is of the upmost importance to have a release when movie watching..as you say what’s the point of facing reality on the big screen **shudders** but sometimes I have and been able to enjoy none the less. I sneak our snacks in my tardis…(well actually my oversize bag) soo much cheaper ..just need the chiro appointment later for the shoulder and neck being out 🙂

you are sooooooooo right! sometimes I envy the people that enjoy the movie without having to snack. When N. met me he couldn’t understand how I was able to still eat my popcorn after a big dinner. I told him that to me popcorn was half of the fun (at least)!
