passionately blogging

25 Nov

The truth is I never intended to write so much in my blog, let alone focus my writing on parenting. I wanted it to be mainly about handmade crafts and homemade cooking (thus the title).

However, at the very tender age of 35, I realised that I love writing. Yes, writing. I was very sceptical in the beginning and kept asking the people closest to me for constructive criticism. Did they like it? Should I maybe change my title as I did a lot more writing then crafts and cooking? One of the few times I asked my soul mate N. for his (extremely honest) opinion he said: ‘I like it, but I don’t quite understand the purpose of it’. Bam, IN THE FACE.

I decided to do some soul searching. Why do I do it indeed? The answer is really very, very simple: It makes me happy. I feel contempt. I find it cleansing and therapeutic and If I can put a smile on someone else’s face or make him/her relate to my parenting challenges I consider it a WIN WIN situation, don’t you?

You write a wonderful blog, one of my favorites! My husband doesn’t really get my blog either. He usually shrugs his shoulders when I force him to look at it. 😉

I realise now that what I love so much about it is the interaction I have with you guys. One of the comments my best friend made was that it might be too parent oriented. I can totally understand where he is coming from (being single and NOT in the kids phase at all) and I thought about lightening it up a bit but at the end of the day this is MY LIFE NOW and I do spend 24/7 with the kids (so help me God – and them-) and I am really passionate about it so…parenting it is (at least most of the time). Till next time you courageous mom of 4 (you have my utter respect, did I mention that already?) xxx

I agree! I think just knowing there are other moms out there that can relate makes blogging really fun!

You are not wasting time if you are enjoying what you are doing, or have others enjoy.
I enjoy that your posts are more about parenting and without wanting too seem disinterested would never have followed you if your posts were on baking and handicrafts 🙂
I don’t think any of our ‘other halves’ understand why we blog, Mr. S is a little baffled by it all, but he shows interest. I babble on about who I have met and what they have to say and he is happy that I get enjoyment from not only writing but from partaking in everyone else’s posts.

So please don’t stop posting – you have a lot of virtual friends who enjoy exactly what you are doing now. I am one of them.
    xx

I am so glad you said that. No, I don’t have the intention to stop, I enjoy it way too much. It is funny how what I expected it to be and how it turned out are two completely different things. Please do come back and visit as often as you like, my new friend. xxx

I like reading your blog very much and it is so well written indeed! I totally agree with you that it is amazing to meet strangers from around the world with so many things in common. Your thoughts on parenting makes me feel so much better, more calm and relax!

you can not believe how happy that makes me! The transformation from business woman to stay at home mum was so intense that I went through phases where I really thought I was losing it. Although N. was really supportive I don’t think he could REALLY relate as he was not a stay at home parent. I felt very lonely at times. When I started this blog I promised myself that it would be true, 100%. No hiding behind perfect scenarios, no pretending everything is wonderful all the time. By being a parent you are as human as you can be and you are bound to make mistakes, no matter what. The sooner one realises that, the better.
I am glad I met you, lots of love, xxx
