miracles do happen!

16 Jan

No, really they do!

The time has come to disclose my secret to you: Attempt no 343: TOTAL SUCCESS

I did it you guys! I managed (shhhh…I am still not sure how I did it) to convince N. that if we ever decided to adopt a stray dog, now is the time!

I was trying very hard to keep my excitement and anounce the news together with a photo of him once we had him home but his transfer from Crete to Piraeus seems to be taking a bit longer than anticipated. Furthermore, prejudice sometimes gets the better out of me and I really wanted to have him home first before announcing THE NEWS

Adoption papers have been filled out, signed and sent to the girl who introduced me to him in the first place and all that is left to do now is wait. Wait for someone to volunteer and bring him from Heraklion, Crete to the mainland. An almost 9 hour overnight ferry ride in the middle of winter….Please send me all the good luck vibes you can!

In the meantime I have arranged to get all the necessary accessories he will need. I am ready, the kids are definitely ready, N. is definitely NOT ready. Keep your fingers crossed!

Until next time

Yay! Congratulations! So excited for you. We just had our dogs transported from our home in Texas to Puerto Rico so they can now live with us full time. We couldn’t be happier! 🙂

Thank you!! I still can’t believe it!! how is life in Puerto Rico?

Your whole family is going to love having that sweet doggie…you’ll see. And, that is one lucky doggie!

Life in PR is challenging when you live here full time, although it is a great place to vacation. Now that I’ve started homeschooling it is better for us! Where are you guys?

We live in Greece…some 40 minutes away from Athens center (thank God)…Life in Greece is difficult and great at the same time…How long have you lived in PR?

      • littlemisswordy January 16, 2013 at 4:51 pm #

I dream of visiting Greece one day! My husband went with his family when he was a teenager, and still talks about going back. He loved it!
“life is difficult and great at the same time” sums it up for us too. 😉
We have been in PR for almost 5 years. The kids and I went back to TX for about a year and a half (due to education) but couldn’t live with an ocean between us any longer so we came back.

He looks adoooorable! Hope you get transportation sorted and it wont be too much for him. What’s his name? Are you keeping the name or changing it? How old is he? (Is it a he?) I have been toying with the idea of a dog but never owned one and I feels intimidating right now… Let us know how it goes!

    • wonderlandbytatu January 16, 2013 at 4:38 pm #

Thank you…He (yes, he) is about 10 months old, he didn’t have a name :(, we have decided to call him Benny. I grew up together with my first dog so I can’t really picture a life without one in it…Now, that Iliana is 3 it seemed a little bit easier (not easy, easier)…

Yay!!!!!!! I love dogs! We have a beagle that we adopted from a shelter. Someone got rid of her because she was a bad hunter. Sad!

    • wonderlandbytatu January 16, 2013 at 4:47 pm #

unfortunately there are THOSE people that get rid of the outgrown puppies for whatever reason….thank God there are people like you (and me-yeah) that decide to give these unfortunate dogs a second chance..and you know what? these are the BEST dogs ever!

I think we will. I know it will take some time to adjust and we will have more on our plate now but we will definitely gain some (love) and lose some (flexibility)..I will let you know how it turns out..

Thank you! Yes, I sure hope so. But N. is like that…it takes him a while to get used to new things but when he eventually gets there, there is no turning back..

    • wonderlandbytatu January 17, 2013 at 1:07 pm #

I am counting on all the positive vibes I can get! Yours get double points of course 🙂 Yes, he has the million dollar look that makes me melt away…I can’t wait! I has been a while since the last time I felt this anxious about something…I am terrible at waiting…especially when I don’t know how long I have to wait for…Is it a day, is it 10 days? 2 weeks or longer? If I knew I would get him next Friday for instance, I would be at ease and perfectly prepared. I must admit that I have literally lost my sleep over this and as you know my dear Jen, sleep is something I value dearly!! xxx, love, T
