I can be Cruella, don’t challenge me

4 Feb

Yes, Cruella de Vil. The worst villain in animated history.

You know how they say that having children is the most beautiful thing in the world?? Sure it is. But….come on, seriously? It is f@##$ng hard. Sometimes the hard part takes over the beautiful part. I never expected to say this: My children have shown me a side of me I had never met before. The Cruella de Vil side of me.

NO, they are not at fault. I blame everything on sleep deprivation.

For the past two weeks both my children have worked well together (I wonder if it is some devious calculated plan of them) in waking me up 3-4 times during the night for extremely trivial important reasons. We have explained to them that they should wake us up only in matters of emergency but it has come to my attention that this word has two completely different meanings to both parties (illness vs tucking in for the 835th time). Iliana takes the night shift and Yiannis the early morning one by making sure I wake up shortly after six.

Adding the hormonal thing us women get once a month to the consecutive sleep deprivation and voilà…A slightly blonder version of the villain mentioned above.

And then people wonder why I reply to the frequently asked question of whether we are considering having no 3 with a big fat NO accompanied by the most horrified look on my face.

Having said that, I love them to pieces and wouldn’t change a thing about them. I would just appreciate a bit more of uninterrupted sleep.

Until next time,

LOl you poor love – I do understand! Every mum has a bit of Cruella de Vil in them, you are NOT alone sweetheart. Patience is tested, the old saying cry wolf may be put to use…if you keep waking mummy and daddy up in the night for ‘little’ things – there will come a time when it’s a ‘big’ thing and mummy and daddy won’t come because we know it’s only little…. Or perhaps a surprise in the morning when they sleep through the night without incidence, nothing huge – just something a little special and then ween it off them as time goes by? Hopefully you get to sleep some more… xxx

Not enough of sleep makes me Cruella too 🙂 I hope this period will be over soon and you feel better. Be strong and keep up, mom!

thank you Jurgita. Glad (or maybe glad is the wrong word) to know I am not the only Cruella out there…Hope you are doing well xxx

Tatu…I guess I’m going through the transformation to Cruela phase with a 13 months old sweet little boy who has just started experimenting day and night with his mom’s limits 😉 und will der Bestimmer werden! I’m trying really hard to be careful and consciously react and behave in order not to make “mistakes” that will make our lives difficult in the future – like not responding to every cry in within a sec. Hard to do it though… Du bist immer die süßte Himbeere! xxx

you have my permission, mein liebes Zitronchen, to go ahead and make as many mistakes as you possibly can 😉 this is the only advice worthwhile giving! loved skyping with you, xxx

Kind of interesting to compare yourself to her after you just got that dog. Just joking.
Anyway, there have been times I have heard myself say things to my children that are just ugly. I have worked on this and thankfully, I am doing better. When these incidents did occur, I am sure they felt bad and I felt even worse.

    • wonderlandbytatu February 4, 2013 at 7:37 pm #

hahahaha. You do have a point there 😉
Yes, I am well aware of the ugly things…I feel awful (awful is an understatement actually) when something ugly slips right out of my mouth…I am working on that as well, but unfortunately I don’t succeed each time I try to hash myself…as I said, I need to get more sleep

      • memyselfandkids February 4, 2013 at 8:16 pm #

Lack of sleep certainly exacerbates the situation.
P.S., I look forward to hearing from you on the new site.

Oh boy…we’re thinking along the same lines today!!! I even had a dream last night that I was pregnant and was extremely scared! I clearly know my sanity and sleep deprivation could not handle it!!! haha!!!

but Melissa, you already have 3!! I have two and freak out with even thinking about another addition, I always say that: respect to the moms that were brave enough to have no 3 and no4 etc…I admire you strength and courage ;0

It’s so hard… almost impossible… to be sane with insufficient sleep. Nap if you can. And cut yourself some slack. And eat some chocolate…

    • wonderlandbytatu February 5, 2013 at 8:55 am #

thank you, it feels good to be understood..as my little one stopped napping a few weeks ago…I don’t see that happening…I need to remember to cut myself some slack (I tend to forget this way too often), yes, maybe chocolate is a good idea – for my brain, not my body 😉
