Yeap, I did. I made dinner which sucked. Well, it was edible and my
extremely hungry would eat just anything sweet and loving husband ate his whole plate. The POOR ONE.
I am not proud of this moment. Nor am I proud of the two REALLY horrible dinners I made the last 12 years we have been together. Thankfully just two. Well, three if you count today’s.
The first failure was a pizza crust I rolled too thin and baked for too long which just stuck to the pan and got burned. When I took the ‘pizza’ out of the oven, N. looked first at the pan and then at me and asked me the million dollar question: WHERE is the pizza??
The second and worst of all was a recipe I had found in a Spanish magazine, shortly after I had begun taking Spanish lessons (HINT). I can’t remember the exact recipe (funny how the mind erases the nasty details but not the actual event), only that I begged N. to throw it away (I NEVER throw away food).
And last but not least was today’s creation. I wanted to make THE ULTIMATE, yet HEALTHY pasta sauce for N. Thankfully my kids were already asleep and didn’t have to endure the torturous version of the pasta with vodka sauce I served my better half.
I was overconfident that I would surprise the hell out of him when I tell him that the amazing (I wish) sauce I had just created was also on the healthy side (yummy and healthy are my two goals when cooking for my family).
I won’t bore you with the details of my failure, however I feel obliged to warn you: If you ever consider substituting whole cream with AYRAN, DON’T.
Until next time
