the top 10 things I love about winter

7 Mar

No, I don’t love winter. As I have mentioned before I have devoted myself utterly and completely to summer. For life. But still, one must appreciate the good things in life and the following are the things I can’t live without during those cold winter days(don’t forget I live in Greece, so cold is anything under 10 degrees C):

  1. our electric blanket nothing beats entering a warm bed before drifting away to precious sleep-land (once you have been sleep deprived for more than 5 years you tend to worship sleep)
  2. the (very few) chances I get to snowboard with N. when the snow is fresh, the sun is shining and the day away from my kids turns into one of these bring it on
  3. Christmas holidays although we haven’t had the perfect WHITE GERMAN CHRISTMAS for a while, we make the most out of it and spend quality time with family & friends over great food (it really can’t get any better than that)
  4. early nights for the kidslook honey, it’s already dark outside (5:30pm)’. No, I haven’t taught Yiannis to tell time, I am not a masochist which brings me to no 5…
  5. more quality time with N. on the evenings that we STILL have some energy left to interact with each other (tiredness and cozy warm bed are working against this)
  6. the fireplace should it work properly
  7. 8 & 9 I ran out of things I love about winter, I can go on and mention the 50 things I love about summer but that wouldn’t be fair to spring.

How about you? Which season are you?

Until next time,

love,

tatu

I get the sads in Winter – hate it, apart from the electric blanket. Autumn to chilly in the mornings, summer..well we finished last week, but we have a further 9 days of over 33C deg, the highest recorded ( for an expanse of time) since weather was recorded here 185 years. So as much as I live warmth – I would have to say Spring…Yes Spring..after all nothing beats having a SPING in your step now does it 🙂 xx

well….if it weren’t for the swims in the sea, spring would be my favorite as well. Spring is such a positive, promising season, don’t you think? After all, I was born in Spring 😉

There is truly nothing more lovely than Christmas with friends and family, white or no. Oh, and I’m definitely a Fall gal! Can’t leave it out! 🙂

I think I would appreciate Fall more if we lived in a country where we enjoyed all 4 seasons…Greek weather seams to switch from summer to winter and vice versa, especially if you live near the city.

Tatu, I think it’s interesting that you’re a summer girl. I’m a winter girl ALL THE WAY! I love cold rainy days. For some reason, the crisp air gives me unusual amounts of energy. But, then again, we are completely spoiled living on the west coast. Our winters aren’t that harsh!

well, I loved visiting my grandparents in snowy Germany at Christmas so I really really enjoyed the cold & the snow & the gathering around the fireplace but in Greece we live close to the sea and nothing makes me happier than to take a dive into the ocean (in summertime)!

I like snow – best part of winter.
There are things I like about each of the seasons.
    Fall – the leaves.
    Spring – revival if nature.
    Summer – the beach.
