when life gives ME lemons

20 Mar

I want to throw them back or use them for dessert (depending on my mood).

Today I am torn between the two.

My mom is sick. MY MOM IS SICK (AGAIN).

I urgently need someone to give my mom a break. COME ON.

Remember I told you I am not good at watching my loved ones suffer? I actually suck at it. Yeap. I keep it together as I seem to be the least panicky person in the family but still. It hurts A LOT to see my mom suffer (again).

I am feeling a bit sour at the moment as both of my kids are at home and sick (that means I am stuck here), my mom just got admitted into hospital and my (poor) sister has another pain challenge to take care of; Omi, my German grandmother who is visiting from Germany.

Breathe in, breathe out.

One tiny step at a time.

Until next time

Gosh, Tatu, that’s really no good news! But you’re lucky that your sister can step in and help your mum, right? And your kids need you know. And you have your grandma visiting? Hm, tricky situation. You can’t leave because Omi is there and your kids are sick. What about your husband? Or his family? Could they help you there? Would you like them to help? Trust your feeling: if you think you have to go to stay with your mum, I’m sure everyone will help you. – These are the situations I fear being expat. We’re all so far away and can’t really help eachother when something happens… Yes, breathe, go for a walk, make a good plan and ask for help. I wish you all the best – und alles Gute und hoffentlich baldige Besserung für deine Mutter! Big hugs!!! xxx

vielen dank liebe Ute! I would go to my sister’s place and stay there but can’t do that as the kids are sick. I need to ask for help from my mother & sister in law (not very good at asking help). In any case, I will wait and see & hope for the best possible outcome. Thank you so much for your encouraging words!

Yes, I understand. I’m very bad at asking for help too…, but maybe you can ask through your husband or they will even offer help themselves, knowing your situation? xxx

Stay strong and ask for help. I am not good at asking for help so I know how it feels. I know how much it pains when you can not help your loved ones. You are doing your best. I pray for your mom to get better.

I hope your mother will be well soon. What is it that ails her?
It is painstaking to see those you care about suffer and not be able to do anything about it.

They are still running tests and we are still waiting. She had ovarian cancer in 2006 and although the chemo left her in a pretty bad shape, she made it.
She has been having some health issues again since last summer but they are not sure if it is related. You know how doctors are. Unless they have the final results in their hands they don’t want to give too much info.
      Thank you for your concern.

      • memyselfandkids.com March 22, 2013 at 3:27 am #

Yeah, instead, they just leave you worrying. I hope you get the right and comforting answers soon.

I am so sorry that your mom is sick and you have all this stress on your plate. I often finds “when it rains it pours”. Stress can really do a number on your body so as you are trying to take care of everyone, don’t forget to take care of yourself.

    Sending prayers your way.

    • wonderlandbytatu March 21, 2013 at 8:08 pm #

spot on: “when it rains it pours”. It seems to be the case with this situation as well BUT there is so much worse going on elsewhere it feels a bit unfair to complain..Well, taking care of myself is at the bottom of my priorities at the moment. I need to get some decent sleep though.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

Tatu, It is so hard when your mum is sick and your children are sick at the same time. It hurts you because you can’t be there for her. My heart goes out to you and I will keep your mum in my thoughts and prayers. My mum lives many, many miles away from me and It would take me 24 hours to get to her, I feel awful when she needs me and I can’t be with her. I hope your children feel better soon and that you can go to your mum as soon as possible. Sending you hugs.

I managed to visit my mom this morning. I did ask for help and my mother in law was kind enough to stay with the kids. The kids are too young to understand though and were a bit upset I was gone half of the day (you see, they are pretty spoiled when it comes to having mom around 24/7). I am very thankful that she lives close by. I can imagine how difficult it must be to have your loved ones so far away. Thank you for your sweet thoughts! I am touched

I give you hugs from Australia…and sorry I haven’t answered earlier. I know what you are feeling…I know your pain…and I as your 2nd mum are here for you, so you know if you want to say more …where I am…for I shall support as much as I can…because we are all mothers and …I know what you feel. xxx

    • wonderlandbytatu March 21, 2013 at 8:15 pm #

thank you MM. I know you are thinking of me, don’t worry. I need to find the time to unwind and connect with my blogger friends but that seems a bit difficult at the moment. Please know that you are in my thoughts. xxx
      p.s. Thank you for caring!

My dear Tatu, I’m sorry to hear that your mother is ill again. I hope things have settled by now and she is making a swift recovery. I’m sure it’s especially difficult for you because you can’t be by her side. Hope your babies are completely healthy and back to their normal selves as well!

    • wonderlandbytatu March 25, 2013 at 10:53 am #

Thank you my dear Anka for your kind thoughts.Things have not changed for the better yet but I will keep my chin up! I hope you are doing fine and feel a bit better (stomach wise) xxx

    • wonderlandbytatu March 28, 2013 at 8:49 am #
