the joy of ironing

3 Apr

Today I feel honored that my friend Larry from me myself and kids asked me to write a guest post for his blog.

I have been a stay at home mom for over 5 years now (6 in July, but who is counting?) and I can assure you of one thing and one thing only. Motherhood is wonderfully challenging!

I love both my kids to pieces but every now and then I find myself longing for a break. Even if this break means something as insignificant as ironing. For more info on the possibilities of overdosing on your kids check out my guest post here.

Thank you Larry for inviting me over!

I like your “ironing” post! I can so relate. I could say exactly the same about me… I don’t like to iron and I completely understand your need to escape the daily routine with small kids. 😉

Thank you you dear one for saying what you did about being a stay at- home mum. I chose to be one instead of pursuing my PhD. It has been a while since I worked, my kids are almost 10 and 71/2. I am with them all the time, and when they are at school, I am at their school volunteering because they need us mums. So when the weekend or Friday night comes along, I am ready to switch off and have my husband take over … Sometimes that doesn’t happen because we have dance rehearsals or some other thing to go to. I switch off by writing( trying to work on a novel – not going very far) or reading, which I love to do. I agree with everything you’ve said. It’s important to find that place where you can go be a woman and a person, then come back re- charged for the after school rush. Such a great post 🙂

it’s because we have chosen to stay at home with our children that I feel the need to share the craziness as well as the beauty of it all. Thank you for understanding. Re-charging is the most important thing we can do for our families. As I once read in a parenting book: if mom’s not happy, no one is happy! thank you once again for your kind words! xxx

I haven’t ironed for so very long…only when requiring is my motto or mantra! Mr. S irons his work shirts and his pants etc. Daughter # 2 – well what is an iron anyway? I do not leave the house crinkled – if it requires it, then it is done 🙂 YOU can give yourself little breaks …you know how! xxx (see previous comments)
